What is the difference between in-practice and at-home teeth whitening?

Updated: Jul 5, 2023

People who want to whiten their teeth can choose to whiten them at home or in the office (in practice). Teeth whitening will be done by the dentist in the applied treatment to be carried out in exercise. The person can see the treatment results after an average of 2 hours of operation. Afterward, you should use the dentist-provided supplement kit at home for an average of one week to ensure long-lasting results. In-home teeth whitening treatment, teeth whitening kits given by the dentist to apply at home are used. The results of this treatment will be visible after two to three weeks.

What is the difference between in-practice and at-home teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening products sold in markets or stores contain a certain amount of hydrogen peroxide. Teeth whitening products containing low levels of hydrogen peroxide may not produce as successful results as professional teeth whitening applications. In office-type teeth whitening treatments, hydrogen peroxide will be used at a rate to be determined by the dentist. Also, some over-the-counter teeth whitening kits can erode the tooth and damage the enamel. With this type of treatment, although the teeth may appear whiter at first, tooth surface loss may occur in the future.
